Is "Bro Code" Actually Dead? An Investigation

Spring is here. Vaccines are here. Life is starting to pick up again. We're actively leaving bad habits in the past; most of us are coming into this new decade with the optimism for clear eyes and full hearts. A rebirth, if you will. We have the opportunity to be the best we can be. That is, until, a new kind of "pandemic" struck the nation at twilight last evening, spreading a new kind of disease; the death of decorum. Foes are being chosen over friends. Hoes...are being chosen over Bros. Have we, as a society, in our haste to leave all of the darkness and despair in then Teen years, forgotten to bring a very important learned sense of respect into this new decade? 

Is "The Bro Code"... dead?

I am of course talking about the Josh Richards, Jaden Hossler, Nessa Barrett & Mads Lewis TikTok debacle. It's been covered extensively, check out Kevin's One Minute Man for a full breakdown - but essentially, Josh and Jaden are besties and roommates. Josh and Nessa were dating. Jaden was dating Mads. Mads confessed (on Call her Daddy) that Jaden told her he now likes Nessa, which of course, violates the bro code. Jaden and Nessa are singers, and have a song together. They were seen holding HANDS TOGETHER, and seem to now be " actually together." Josh is distraught, and we are left wondering how Jaden could have demolished a foundation as important as The Bro Code. 

When you think about it, has Jaden had any positive examples of other Bros abiding by the code? Maybe he simply… does not know what it is? How can we expect him to respect Josh if he has been learning from people like…

BLATANT disregard from Jesse's friend. He's not even trying to hide it. He made a smash hit about it! What kind of example does this set? Jaden is a singer, maybe he looks up to Rick Springfield? Fucked up.

This Asshole From Love Actually

This guy starts out this card nonsense telling Kiera Knightly to tell her HUSBAND, HIS BEST FRIEND, that carolers are at the door! Nope, just his "best bud" coming through to confess his love for his WIFE. And everyone praised him for it! People said it was romantic! Jaden probably watched this movie!

Jason Biggs has so much trust in his best friend Dane Cook in this movie, that he asks him to go out on a shitty date with his ex (Kate Hudson) to show her that she misses Jason Biggs. And then Dane Cook fell in love with her! We all rooted for them! Poor Jason Biggs. 

I believe we are just scratching the surface on the systemic nature of this growing epidemic. If you, or anyone you know has been a victim of a Bro Code Violation, know you are not alone. Bros, as a community, need to come together and start fixing, learning, listening and growing. It's not (entirely) your fault.

It's probably your fault 100%. You're probably just a dick. Knock it off.
